If you do not start with quality in your own work, how can you deliver it to others? A while ago I made a decision: to rebuild my personal website from scratch.
As a developer, my website is the mirror of my work. If it is not fast, if it is not accessible, if it does not speak clearly, how can I promise the same result to a client? Here is what was not working, and what changed.
Quality is not a luxury. It is the foundation that turns a visitor into a client. And it starts with your own work.
What was not working on the old site
- Heavy and slow. It loaded with effort, especially on mobile.
- The message got lost. Too many elements, no clear hierarchy, the point did not come across.
- Tiring to read. It did not guide the eye, it wore you out instead of holding you.
- Weak SEO. Barely any structure for Google to find me.
What changed
- Custom design from scratch. My own identity, not a ready template.
- Astro, static and fast. Minimal JavaScript, instant loading.
- Bilingual EL / EN. Done properly, with hreflang, not auto translation.
- Clean SEO. Sitemap, meta, structured data, a structure that reads.
- Accessibility and detail. From the colors to the keyboard.
- Custom loader and micro animations. Character, without getting in the way.
The philosophy behind the redesign
I did not do it to "look nice". I did it because a website is a tool: it has to load fast, say the right thing at the right moment, and lead the visitor to an action. I ask for the same when I build for you.
If you want to see where a custom solution really differs from a ready template, or how an online booking system for a barbershop in Kastoria delivered measurable results, I have written about both.
What it means for you
With the same care I put into my own, I build yours. Take a look and tell me what you think.
Got an idea? Let's build it right, from scratch.
Write me a couple of lines about how you work. I reply personally.
